The 20 Districts in Play

These districts have a past lean between D+5 and R+15. This was calculated off the average margin of the 2024 presidential, 2022 governor, and 2022 Senate races inside the districtโ€™s current lines.

16 are held by Republicans and 4 by Democrats. Together they have cast 270,884 early votes, 108% of what they had cast by this point in 2022.

Against 2022โ€™s early voters at the same point, the share of early voters who took a Democratic 2026 primary ballot is up in all 20 districts, by between 0.4 and 5.2 points.

Early vote vs โ€™22: this yearโ€™s early votes as a share of 2022โ€™s at the same number of days before the election, drawn from 100%. Dots: the Democratic share of 2026 primary ballots among early voters, 2022โ€™s at the same point and 2026โ€™s so far; change is in points. Hover or tap a pair for the shares.

How These Numbers Are Built

Statewide races are reported by precinct, not by House district, so each precinctโ€™s votes are split across the districts its 2024 general voters live in today. Gwinnett Countyโ€™s 2022 file did not have precinct-level results, so the governor results are estimated from its other races.

Early voters are compared with 2022โ€™s early voters through the same number of days before the election. Early voters are older and more likely to have taken a Democratic primary ballot than Election Day voters, and the oldest vote first, so any other comparison would show a shift that is only timing or method.

2022 early voters are counted where they live today, or in their 2022 district if they are no longer on the voter list. Primary ballots are from the 2026 primaryโ€™s voter history. Every district also has its own page in the State House viewer.
